Scaffolding a Skeleton
نویسندگان
چکیده
The goal of this paper is to construct a quadrilateral mesh around a one-dimensional skeleton that is as coarse as possible, the “scaffold”. A skeleton allows one to quickly describe a shape, in particular a complex shape of high genus. The constructed scaffold is then a potential support for the surface representation: it provides a topology for the mesh, a domain for parametric representation (a quad mesh is ideal for tensor product splines) or, together with the skeleton, a grid support on which to project an implicit surface that is naturally defined by the skeleton through convolution. We provide a constructive algorithm to derive a quad-mesh scaffold with topologically regular crosssections (which are also quads), and no T-junctions. We show that this construction is optimal in the sense that no coarser quad mesh with topologically regular cross-sections may be constructed. Finally, we apply an existing rotation minimization algorithm along the skeleton branches, which produces a mesh with a natural edge flow along the shape.

Personalized Expert Skeleton Scaffolding in Concept Map Construction
Concept maps have been widely used in educational contexts to facilitate meaningful learning. Recent research has examined how concept mapping tools assist students in summarizing, relating, and organizing concepts. Our goal is to explore how personalized scaffolding can be applied to concept map construction. We provide personalized scaffolding in the form of an adaptive expert skeleton map ba...
متن کامل2 5 M ay 2 00 9 Any smooth knot S n →֒ R n + 2 is isotopic to a cubic knot contained in the canonical scaffolding of R n + 2 ∗
The n-skeleton of the canonical cubulation C of R into unit cubes is called the canonical scaffolding S. In this paper, we prove that any smooth knot can be continuously isotoped by an ambient isotopy of R to a knot contained in S.

Gender is considered a sociological construct and investigating the role of gender in foreign language learning contexts is highly important due to the effects of sociological factors in learning. Therefore, the present study set out to explore the sociological effects of peer and teacher scaffolding through the process approach in a technology-enhanced environment on the vocabulary learning of...
متن کاملChlamydiaphage Chp2, a skeleton in the phiX174 closet: scaffolding protein and procapsid identification.
Chlamydiaphage Chp2 is a member of the family Microviridae, of which bacteriophage phiX174 is the type species. Although grouped in the same family, the relationship between the Microviridae coliphages and the Chp2-like viruses, which infect obligate intracellular parasitic bacteria, is quite distant, with major differences in structural protein content and scaffolding protein dependence. To in...

AbstractIn the present study, attempt has been made to examine the effectiveness of peer and teacher scaffolding in reading comprehension of intermediate EFL students in symmetrical and asymmetrical groups. To do so, sixty intermediate students were purposively selected out of 150 intermediate students in Hamadan Islamic Azad University and Kish Language Institute in Hamadan. They were divided ...
